‘How To Do’ Here is a sample ( Thanks David F. for compiling this information.... Great Job!!)

Dear friends,

Thank you for your interest in VCC JobNetwork and LinkedIn (Job Networking Website), which has a special VCC Job Search Support Group online. Here are some key points before starting, followed by basic instructions for LinkedIn to get going on the Internet and find some success.

1. Valley Community Church’s Job Search Support Group has been revitalized under the leadership of Terry Simeon and Barrett Craner.
2. The VCC Job Search Support Group meets every second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 PM... Here is the next one found by going to the VCC website:

VCC Calendar...
http://www.valleycommunitychurch.org/site/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=7&Itemid=33

On the VCC Calendar page, select “Click here”. That should bring up the calendar. Then look for time and place on Thursdays.
3. Contact Terry for further information about the VCC JobNetwork meetings and activities.
4. Build your own job search network via means of LinkedIn. Watch for the email invitation that I sent each of you from LinkedIn. Accept my invitation, then establish your LinkedIn login and password.
5. Complete your profile. On the left edge of LinkedIn, under the word “Profile”, select “Edit My Profile”. This will help other interested people find you.
6. Build your network by inviting other friends. LinkedIn may offer suggestions to you, based on your profile. On the left edge of LinkedIn, select “Contacts”. Then in the upper right corner, select the “Add Connections” tab. Fill in and send. As you will notice, if you have an Outlook Email Address Book, LinkedIn can help you invite friends that you select from your address book. Keep in mind that LinkedIn will count your ‘friends’, ‘friends of friends’, and ‘friends of friends of friends’. In less than two weeks it is very possible to have 100,000 contacts if you invite people who are already LinkedIn.
7. To see how many contacts you have: On the left edge of LinkedIn, under the word “Contacts”, select “Network Statistics”.
8. Now, for the good stuff... First, On the left edge of LinkedIn, select “Groups”. Then select “Find a Group”. Look for “VCC Job Search Support Group” and request to join. Keep in mind this group is only new and needs everyone to support it with networking enthusiasm, so that it will grow and become a strong tool for everyone concerned.
9. Second, to locate a company and find out if you have any contacts working there... and to be able to connect with them: At the top of the page (next to the LinkedIn logo, select “Jobs”. Then select “Job Home” tab. Then fill in a keyword, your zip code and select “Search”. You should be able to find connections in your companies of interest, contact them, and soar from here. Or else, to locate job listings, select “Advanced Job Search”, then fill in and select “Search”.

I would appreciate your feedback as to the clarity and helpfulness of these instructions. I would also be pleased to know of your success in job hunting and in the meantime, would be happy to support your job search effort in prayer.

Keep in touch!

Joyfully in Jesus,
